The patron saint of the church in Burgebrach is Vitus
In former times we donīt had street names in small cities or villages. The number of the house is enough to get e.g. the right land register at the Staatsarchiv Bamberg, Hainstr. 39, 96047 Bamberg, Tel.: 0951/98 62 25 0, poststelle@staba.bayern.de. Individuals : FACHENLUEGER Blasius (1024)
Taken from genealogical records by Richard Farnlacher...
"Sequitur Annus 1653, In quo more consueto copulatae sunt personae sequantes. Februarius den 7. Blasius Fachenlueger, junger Gesell, von der Rauriss dess Ertzstiffts Saltzburg. Jungfer Anna, Friedrich Trappes, Bauern zu Mailach eheliche Tochter."
Records from January 12, 1657... On the 12th Jan 1657 to Blasio Fahrenluger in Frimmersdorf and his married wife Anna , both of the Papstlich religion, a son was baptized with the name Johannes. Godfather was Johann Dorph (?) Miller from Fezelhoffen. (Misc.) First documents of Frimmersdorf date from 1100; Nikolaus bap 18Jul in the church; godfather, N.Krug, farmer in Buchdorf(?) -- from Richard Farnlacher
In 1789, a new house was built in Frimmersdorf in Mittel Franken which is a part of Bavaria. The reason we can record this date is not because of any record-keeping, but because the year was cut into the wooden beams that were used in its construction. This was a common practice throughout Europe.
The new house was disignated as Frimmerdorf's "Haus Nr. 4" (House Number 4). Its construction is of large stone blocks with a stucco finish. As were many farm houses of this time, Haus Nr. 4 was about equally divided between living area for the family and space for the farm animals.
In the many small Bavarian villages that were supported by farming, there were no street numbers. Houses were numbered in the chronological order in which they were erected. Once a house had been built and numbered, any succeeding house that would replace it, would also be referred to by the same number.
Although Haus Nr. 4, which is two hundred years old, is no longer used as a dwelling, it was in use, as such, until just a few years ago. It was in a bad state of disrepair and would require extensive restoration. It is currently being used as a workshop and for storage. Because of its age, Richard (Farnlacher, of Munich) said that it might be on a protected government list of houses.
The house of 1789 has been replaced with a new Haus Nr. 4 which is now serving as the residence. We also know that another Haus Nr. 4 preceeded the one built in 1789. Nikolaus' father (Georg Wilhelm Farnlucher) was born in 1775, also in a Haus Nr. 4, in Frimmersdorf, fourteen years before 1789. Could this have been the Haus Nr. 4 that Blasius built?

Individuals : FARNLACHER Adam
Is Adam's birthdate Jan 18 or Jan 19 (1852)?
The following from an e-mail conversation with Walt Farnlacher, Michael Helquist (Helquist@@aol.com), and Jack Farnlacher in August, 1998.
(on 8-14-1999) I am researching a house in San Francisco that was built in 1905; the first owners were Adam and Emma Farnlacher. Do you have any information regarding this family line? I know that they had a son, Henry Adam, who later married a Caroline, that Henry died in his mid 30s; that Henry and Caroline had a son named Harry who married a Doris and later a Thelma; I believe they had a son named Walt, whose last listing in local directories was in 1966, living in Daly City, just south of San Francisco. The original house being studied is on the 1600 block of Fulton Street in San Francisco. Members of the family, primarily Emma, lived in the house until 1941 (when she might have died).
(on 8-15-1999) My name is Michael Helquist and I am a writer and neighborhood organizer in San Francisco. One facet of my neighborhood work has been to encourage an appreciation of the historic features of our area. With that in mind, I created a "lottery" where individual neighbors could add their house as an entry in a drawing: the prize would be a fully researched profile of their house, the early owners and occupants, the architecture, the neighborhood surroundings in early San Francisco, etc. The first winners of the drawing happen to own a house at 1662-1664 Fulton Street, so I began work on it.
So my contact with the Farnlacher family was simply the result of determining that Adam, in 1905, first applied to have water service connected to his new building (usually the person who applies is the owner, although not always). From there I searched SF city directories, block maps, old newspaper files, and other sources to develop a story of the house itself and the early occupants. Since the early Farnlachers lived in the house for a lengthy period, from 1905 until 1941, I accumulated information about their son Henry Adam, his wife Caroline, Henry Adam's early death, their son Harry, his marriages to Doris and then Thelma, and evidently their son, Walt -- all of which traced this part of the family line to 1966. And there the trail ended, until now.
I have completed the story of the house, and it will be published in our neighborhood newsletter along with an artist's sketch of the building in a few weeks. I can certainly mail a copy to you.
Although my work for the article is over, and I will have a new house to begin researching, I have to admit that I formed a fondness for the family, and a feeling for their circumstances. And, some facts have eluded me. So, just for my own information, which I could also share with the new owners of 1664 Fulton, I would love to hear more of the family -- before the late 1800s and afterwards.

SuAnn Farnlacher spoke with Amy Souder, May 28, 1999... Ruth Wolfe is Amy's niece. Martin's house was on Walnut Street, east of Westerville. It was the first house east of the stream on Lee Road. The original house has been remodeled; now it's brown. English's house... two houses west, where the sign "Carl Souder -- straw" was. That was Amy's brother. Next to Carl Souder, "Nick's house, further west... three houses in a row", sold it to Souders and moved to a house closer to dam. Nick (Farnlacher) burned off some land, got caught in the fire. He got gangrene, subsequently killed himself with a gun... at about age 93 years. Amy's parents, Ralph Souder and Mary Schmidt lived on 350 acres at 605 and Central College Road. They were quite well-off. The present farm has several barns. The house was built in 1809 and is of brick construction. There was a wisteria (sp?) trellace to the front door. The farm was sold to Wexner's organization which had first option to buy. Amy's two brothers, Clark and Elmer, never married. Their home was "probably a pig stye". Elmer became sick and died in 1998; Clark is now in a nursing home.
